Counterfeit Drugs: A Pervasive Threat to Public Health and the Role of Anti-Counterfeit Measures

Of all the counterfeit drugs shipped to the European Union, India accounts for almost 47 per cent of the total shipment that has been confiscated, according to an OECD 2020 report. It’s not just the pharmaceutical industry, counterfeiting and piracy have an adverse effect on the global economy, resulting in losses worth trillions of dollars, as estimated by the International Chamber of Commerce.
